Job description

As Lead Teacher, you will be providing effective leadership and management on a specific site for a College for 14-19 year olds, delivering a safe and secure education provision for students with complex needs and behaviours.

As the Lead Teacher, you will be managing the educational environment, which supports and motivates students with complex needs, whilst they undertake a high-quality and aspirational curriculum. Beginning April 2025.

Duties as Lead Teacher:

  1. Teaching GCSEs in Maths and/or English
  2. Building effective and supportive relationships with students and families/carers; embedding trust and support within the education process.
  3. Managing, implementing, and monitoring the timetable, ensuring teachers and support staff are deployed effectively and efficiently to support learner success.
  4. Overseeing and coordinating the development of your subject(s) area.
  5. Planning, producing, and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements, taking into account guidance from the DfE and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
  6. Managing and analyzing performance data and reporting to the Centre Manager. Taking appropriate actions to address areas of underperformance.
  7. Leading efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning by following and implementing the College’s observation procedures.
  8. Managing and implementing the contribution review process by setting targets for individual and team performance, managing direct reports, and addressing staff underperformance effectively and promptly.
  9. Supporting the training and development of staff to ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  10. Holding a recognized QTS qualification (or willing to work towards it).
  11. Being a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  12. Having experience working with a cohort of young people, including those with complex, high behaviour, and additional learning needs.
  13. Possessing line management experience, including setting KPIs and conducting regular supervisions.
  14. Having extensive knowledge and understanding of various teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to enable all learners to achieve their potential.
