Job summary

Aspire People is excited to recruit an English Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Ealing from January 2027 or sooner. This full-time role offers a day rate of £210–£265, dependent on experience, with the post based in Ealing, West London.

As a Secondary English Teacher you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3–KS4, prepare pupils for GCSEs, and uphold high standards of teaching, safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or equivalent.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of English literature, language and writing.
• Experience preparing pupils for GCSE English examinations.
• Excellent classroom management.
• Adaptable and confident in new environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• ECTs and experienced teachers encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Secondary English Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting pupils to develop their literacy, analytical and communication skills with confidence. You will maintain high standards of teaching and learning whilst fostering a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in line with the national curriculum
• Teach a broad range of literature, language and writing skills including GCSE examination preparation
• Maintain a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment that inspires and motivates learners
• Manage pupil behaviour in line with school policies and procedures
• Assess, monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and leadership teams
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school-specific policies at all times

About You

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
• Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum including literature, language and writing
• Experience preparing pupils for GCSE English examinations
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
• Adaptable, flexible and confident working in a new environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
• ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply
