Job summary

Academics is seeking a dynamic Secondary Design & Technology Teacher for flexible daily supply, short-term, and long-term opportunities across Wirral secondary schools. You will deliver engaging lessons in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, or Food Technology while ensuring safety and high pupil engagement.

Applicants should hold UK QTS or QTLS with a relevant degree; enhance with a DATA certificate.

Qualifications

• UK QTS or QTLS with a degree in Design & Technology.
• Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for D&T KS3/KS4, GCSE prep.
• Experience delivering practical Design & Technology lessons.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging D&T lessons across KS3/KS4 (KS5 where possible).
• Cover D&T departments across Wirral for short/long-term placements.
• supervise workshop machinery and workshop/kitchen environments safely.
• Maintain high standards of classroom management and pupil engagement.

Role Overview

Deliver & Engage: Plan and deliver dynamic Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 opportunities available depending on your specialist area).

Flexibility: Step into D&T departments across The Wirral for daily cover, short-term sickness cover, or planned long-term block placements.

Workshop Safety: Supervise practical machinery, hand tools, and workshop/kitchen environments safely, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety standards.

Classroom Management: Maintain high standards of student behavior, creating a structured, safe, and creative environment where pupils can design and make effectively.

Requirements

Qualifications: UK QTS or QTLS with a degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.

Subject Knowledge: Strong command of the UK National Curriculum for D&T across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE project and exam preparation.

Health & Safety: Valid DATA machinery certification or equivalent workshop safety knowledge is highly desirable.

Compliance & Location: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) and the ability to commute around The Wirral.
