Job description

Are you ready to inspire and lead? At Co-op Swinton, we are seeking a dynamic Second in Department for Computer Science, Creative Media & Enterprise to guide curriculum, foster collaboration, and elevate student outcomes!

As part of Co-op Academies Trust, you will have the opportunity to innovate, inspire, and raise achievement levels across the school while working within a supportive leadership team.

Our aim is to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. We are looking to appoint a second in department who shares our vision for an ambitious, supportive, and nurturing learning environment and curriculum. Alongside academic success, we pride ourselves on our students' behaviour, aiming for high achievement in a rewards-based environment. Our caring pastoral team works closely with staff to support students throughout their secondary school journey. You will embody our vision and values and model exceptional professional behaviours.

Why us?

Our academy caters to pupils aged 11-16. Located conveniently from all areas of the North West, Swinton train station is less than a 5-minute walk. We have a dedicated team of staff who build positive relationships and foster a caring culture with our students. This was highlighted in our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2024), where we were graded ‘Good’ in all areas.

Our values are rooted in the Co-op Group's principles, guiding our behaviours:

  • Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon-fed; we strive to do things ourselves, at the right time.
  • Self-responsibility: Everyone should act responsibly within the academy and the community, taking charge of their own learning to become independent learners.
  • Equality: We celebrate our multicultural environment, treating each other with respect and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
  • Equity: We recognize and reward individual achievements fairly to encourage all forms of success.
  • Democracy: We encourage contributions and ideas to make our academy successful.
  • Solidarity: Working together allows us to achieve more than working alone.
Our Values

As part of the Co-operative Group, we are guided by our core 'Ways of Being':

  • Succeed together
  • Do what matters most
  • Be yourself, always
  • Show you care

If you share our values, we would love to hear from you!

Benefits and Rewards

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • A Co-op membership with a 10% discount in Co-op Food stores
  • Flexible benefits such as discounted line rental, broadband, family care advice, and cycle-to-work schemes
  • Discounted gym memberships and leisure activities, including Merlin Entertainments, Virgin Experience Days, SuperBreak, and more
  • Co-op Credit Union membership with competitive dividends and interest rates
  • Co-op Funeralcare benefits
  • Season ticket and rental deposit loans

And much more!
