Job summary

ANT Recruitment Ltd is seeking a proactive Second Engineer to assist the Chief Engineer during a vessel relocation. You will operate and maintain the vessel's engineering systems, monitor propulsion and auxiliary equipment, and ensure readiness ahead of departure.

The role requires an STCW Second Engineer Certificate, an ENG1 Medical Certificate, and a minimum of two years' experience as Second Engineer or Motorman.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW Second Engineer Certificate of Competency.
• Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as Second Engineer or Motorman.
• Clean criminal record (background check mandatory).
• Ability to mobilise to the South East England region within 3 hours of alert.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned maintenance tasks under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Monitor machinery spaces, propulsion units, and auxiliary systems.
• Respond immediately to technical issues affecting vessel operations.
• Assist in maintaining technical documentation and regulatory compliance logs.
• Conduct safety checks on critical systems before departure and during voyage.
