Job summary

Briggs Marine Group is seeking a Ships Second Engineer to oversee safety, security and pollution prevention while directing the ship's operation under the Chief Engineer. You will assist in engine room maintenance, oversee planned maintenance, and support bunker operations.

The role requires STCW qualifications and a strong background in marine engineering, with responsibilities including watch keeping, inventory, training and emergency response. An equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Qualified as 2nd Engineer with COC and STCW certificates.
  • Experience in safe operation and maintenance of ship machinery.
  • Ability to manage planned maintenance and bunker operations.
  • Strong commitment to pollution prevention and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Chief Engineer in safe operation and maintenance of machinery.
  • Fulfill Planned Maintenance schedule requirements.
  • Maintain engine room logbook and oil record book.
  • Support deck operations and emergency response duties.
  • Organise and manage seamen in the engine room and participate in firefighting parties.
  • Ensure compliance with pollution prevention requirements.
