Job summary

V.Group seeks a 2nd Engineer for a bulk carrier on a contract basis. This shipboard role reports to the Chief Engineer, assuming full responsibility for the engine department in the Chief’s absence.

You will supervise junior engineers and engine-room ratings, prepare the main propulsion for sea, maintain auxiliary, cargo and deck machinery, and ensure the machinery spaces remain clean and structurally sound.

Responsibilities

• The Second Engineer serves as the primary deputy to the Chief Engineer, assuming full responsibility for the engine department in the Chief’s absence.
• This role focuses on organizing and supervising daily operations, managing junior engineering officers and engine room ratings, and preparing propulsion systems.
• Maintain all auxiliary, cargo and deck machinery and ensure cleanliness and integrity of machinery spaces.
