Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Chef to join our kitchen team as a Second Chef. You will assist the Head Chef in developing nutritious, flavoursome menus using fresh seasonal ingredients, while ensuring a warm, welcoming dining experience for residents.

You will contribute to maintaining high standards of nutrition and HACCP compliance, and help create a caring, resident-centred environment across our homes.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach to resident wellbeing.
• Good Nutrition knowledge.
• Experience with fresh seasonal food.
• Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment in the home.
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor appetising and nutritious menus.
• Solid understanding of HACCP procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and control costs.
• Complete regular audits of kitchen operations.
• Manage stock control and ordering.

Job description

Are you a qualified Chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?
Working as a Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE
