Job summary

This role as a Second Chef in a Care Home offers an opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal produce and create nutritious, flavorsome and well-balanced menus for residents. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef and work in a supportive, quality-focused environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will help the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavorsome and well-balanced menus. You will work closely with residents to tailor the menus to their preferences and needs. The role involves managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, assisting with menu development, working with fresh produce to deliver high-quality dishes, and maintaining stock control and budgets.   • The successful candidate should hold a City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification, have a good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh, seasonal food. They should also have a personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents, and the ability to create a welcoming environment.
