Job description

The role of a Second Chef in a care home setting offers the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and have a better work-life balance compared to a typical hotel or restaurant environment. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavorful menus, while also contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the residents.

Main duties of the job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will help the Head Chef in developing and delivering high-quality, balanced menus made with fresh, seasonal produce. You will also work closely with residents to understand their preferences and tailor the menus accordingly. The role involves managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, leading and inspiring the team, and ensuring efficient stock control and budgeting.

Job responsibilities

Working as a bank Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them.
