Job description

The job posting is for a Second Chef position at Barchester Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider in the UK with over 224 homes and hospitals. Main duties of the job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver high-quality, hotel/restaurant-standard meals without the long hours and split shifts typically associated with the hospitality industry. You will work closely with the Head Chef to develop menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of the residents, while also creating a warm and efficient kitchen environment. The role also involves managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, maintaining stock control, and leading and motivating the kitchen team.

Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, have experience in helping lead and inspire a team, a good understanding of nutrition and working with fresh, seasonal food, and a strong grasp of HACCP principles.
