Job summary

Care South in Poole is seeking a Second Chef to create and deliver nutritious meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. You will plan menus with residents and care staff, and support the Head Chef in supervising the kitchen team.

The role requires organisational skills, teamwork, and the ability to lead when required, with a focus on health and safety compliance within the kitchen. A welcome bonus of £500 is offered upon joining.

Qualifications

• Interest in NVQ Level 2 or willingness to undertake relevant training.
• Understanding of health and safety and current legislation.

Responsibilities

• Create, prepare and cook nutritious meals for residents with high quality and presentation.
• Plan meals/menus with residents and staff to cater for dietary needs.
• Supervise and support the kitchen team alongside Head Chef.
• Maintain health and safety compliance in the kitchen area.
• Cover Head Chef duties when needed including ordering and stock control.

Pay: £14.50 per hour and a £500 welcome bonus

Hours: 40 hours over 4 days, to include alternate weekends

Shifts: 7:30 - 18:00

About You

Are you someone with a passion for cooking?

Are you organised with the ability to meet deadlines? Ideally you will have experience working in a kitchen producing attractive and high-quality meals in high volumes.

We’re looking for someone with a Certificate in NVQ Level 2 Food Production/ Hygiene or interested in undertaking one. You will ideally need an understanding of health and safety and other current relevant legislation.

The Role:

• Creating, preparing and cooking nutritious meals for our residents - ensuring quality & presentation is always to a high standard

• Planning meals/menus - consulting with residents and care staff to ensure that individual dietary needs and preferences are catered for across all residents

• Alongside our Head Chef - supervise and support our kitchen team.

• Ensuring all health & safety and other relevant legislation is adhered to within your area.

• Covering for the HeadChef when necessary: assuming responsibility for ordering, checking in and controlling supplies.
