Job summary

Tata Technologies in the UK is recruiting a Lead Engineer - Seating based in Warwick to lead seating sub-systems and deliverables to time and budget. You will coordinate with customers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced automotive product development context.

The role requires strong project management, CAD literacy (Catia v5 preferred) and experience with DFMEA/PPAP. Travel to UK sites is expected; 6 months contract or full-time permanent options available.

Responsibilities

• Lead sub-system engineers and deliver seating components on time and budget.
• Plan and run seating engineering sub-system meetings with cross-functional input.
• Coordinate day-to-day with customers within an Agile framework.
• Manage DFMEA, 8D/5W analyses and APQP activities.
• Identify critical topics and manage key deliverables.
• Project management: scheduling and task creation to milestones.
• Provide vehicle build/prototype support in the UK and launch support.
• Manage overall risk and resolve issues with stakeholders.
• Travel to customer and supplier sites as required in the UK.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports.

Job description

6 months contract, Inside IR35 or full time permament position available

THE ROLE

The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined Seating component(s) / system(s).

AREA OF RESONSABILITY

This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running the Seating engineering sub

system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all

relevant areas. You will have responsibility for:

• Ensuring that the engineering sub-system delivers its objectives and targets (technical and business).
• Day to day customer coordination (Agile Framework).
• Interaction with customer and getting the firsthand information and analysing, creating quires and feasibility assessment in terms of the timelines.
• DFMEA and 8D /5W analysis.
• APQP to manage system/ component delivery.
• Identify of the critical topics and manage the key deliverables.
• Project Management: Ex: Scheduling, task creation based on timelines to meet key milestones.
• Vehicle build / Prototype support in the UK.
• Launch support in the UK.
• Overall risk Management
• Issue and conflict resolution.
• Communicating with all relevant stakeholders.
• Make decision based on the requirements of customer.
• Building customer relationship.
• Travel to all customer and supplier sites based on requirements in the UK.
• Weekly / Monthly reporting.

KNOWLEGDE / EXPERIENCE

• Automotive seating regulation and know how.
• Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery on time & budget within a product development environment.
• Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements,
• Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels,
• Successful history of delivery within the automotive product development sector.
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Ability to listen to customer and put forward quires and replies in positive manner.
• Lead and record the meetings and action / follow up.
• Ability to query / reply and share the information with relevant stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure with patience.
• The UK driving licence Experience level:
• Automotive seating experience is mandatory
• Experience as Lead engineer & project management Preferred:
• CAD Literacy: ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data.
• Ability to generate CAD data in Catia v5 would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of project delivery processes e.g. PPAP Working
