Job summary

R.O.Donaghey Building & Civil Engineering Ltd. in the West Midlands is seeking an Experienced Groundworker to join a groundworks-focused sub-contractor. You will excavate, prepare foundations, install drainage, and assist with kerbing and paving on residential and commercial sites.

The role is full-time and on-site, requiring reliability, teamwork and the ability to work in varying weather conditions. A valid CSCS card and plant/machinery familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundworks: excavation, foundations, drainage installation, concrete works.
• Ability to read construction drawings and site plans.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
• Experience operating plant and machinery or working alongside it.
• Good communication and teamwork with site supervisors and subcontractors.
• Physical fitness for manual labour outdoors in varying conditions.
• Full UK driving licence and reliable transport to reach sites.
• CSCS card; additional certifications (CPCS/NPORS) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set out levels and prepare materials for groundworks.
• Excavate, lay foundations, install drainage and concrete works.
• Assist with kerbing and paving as required.
• Operate or work with plant and machinery with appropriate tickets.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow health and safety guidelines.
• Report progress or issues to site supervisors.
