POSITION: Seasonal Team Member (Fixed-Term, 160 Hours)

REPORTING TO: Store Manager

STORE: Shop 24 & 25, De Zwartland Markt, Malmesbury, Western Cape

Purpose of the Job

As a Seasonal Team Member, you will assist with receiving and unpacking stock, merchandising, gift wrapping and providing excellent customer service. You will support the store team in creating a positive shopping experience during the festive season.

Main Responsibilities
  • Customer Service – greet and assist every customer with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Housekeeping – keep the store clean, tidy and organised.
  • Merchandising – ensure displays are neat, eye-catching and regularly refreshed.
  • Stock Handling – assist with unpacking, categorising and replenishing stock.
  • Book Knowledge – be an avid reader or display a keen interest in learning about our books and promotions to help customers.
  • Sales Support – upsell, cross-sell, and recommend alternatives where possible.
  • Security Awareness – remain alert and vigilant on the sales floor.
Requirements

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic candidates who:

  • Are 15 years or older.
  • Provide proof of current school attendance (if still in school) or a Matric certificate.
  • Are friendly, approachable, and service-driven.
  • Can work in a busy retail environment and handle pressure.
  • Are physically strong and healthy to assist with stock handling.
  • Are available to work retail hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage, but not essential.
The Successful Applicant Will Have
  • Neat and professional presentation.
  • Good book knowledge or show an interest in learning about our books and promotions.
  • Good communication skills (bilingual preferred).
  • A positive, helpful attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to the team.
