Job Description:

Description B&L has openings for a Resident Engineer (NICET IV) or a Sr. Inspector (NICET III) for the 2023 construction season. We are seeking administration/inspection staff for transportation projects throughout various counties in New York, specifically Ontario County.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Inspect and document daily construction activities
  2. Prepare daily diary/inspection reports and weekly progress reports
  3. Measure quantities of materials used and work performed
  4. Prepare/assist in preparation of monthly payment requests
  5. Review claims for extra work and change order costs
  6. Assist in coordination of utilities
  7. Interpret contract plans and specifications
  8. Assist in coordination between the owner, contractor(s), and government agencies

Requirements:

  • Experience in highway/bridge/paving/drainage inspection
  • Knowledge of NYSDOT specifications and MURK procedures and protocol
  • Basic computer skills for construction software
  • Recent Public Works, NYS Thruway, and DOT retirees are encouraged to apply

Estimated Pay Range: $45-60/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, market conditions, education, certifications, and skills.
