Salary: £22,222 - £22,932 pro rata

The Role:

The Falls of Clyde is the Trusts busiest wildlife reserve, and the role of the seasonal ranger is to support the Clyde Valley Ranger to engage with the public and carry out reserve-based tasks. The main duties will include patrolling the wildlife reserve while engaging with visitors, delivering public events, undertaking practical conservation work, and carrying out biological recording. The working pattern will be from Saturday to Wednesday and will include evenings (usually once per week).

The successful candidate will:

• Patrol the wildlife reserve and promote site safety to visitors
  
• Undertake a wide range of practical conservation tasks
  
• Work with and support our Ranger and team of volunteers
  
• Lead guided walks and public events, such as badger watches
  
• Deliver public engagement events throughout the summer
  
• Carry out biological recording including monitoring camera trap footage
  
• Help run environmental education activities including school groups
  
• Actively recruit members to the Scottish Wildlife Trust

The Candidate:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and skilled person to work as part of the Falls of Clyde team at the popular Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve, part of the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve.

This exciting role requires excellent people and organisational skills, confidence in presenting and speaking publicly, and a high degree of flexibility. You will be responsible for organising tasks for yourself and a small team of volunteers and adapting your plan according to changing conditions. This role is suited to individuals who are practical, pragmatic and can think outside of the box. Much of the role entails working outside in all-weather and requires a reasonable level of fitness.
