Historic Royal Palaces is seeking a Palace Host (Sales) for the 'Dress Codes' exhibition at Kensington Palace. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, achieving sales targets, and enhancing visitor experiences. Flexible contracts are available from March to November 2025.
Please note that from 1st April 2025, the hourly pay rate will increase to reflect the London Living Wage, which is set to be £13.85 per hour.
We are an independent charity that loves and cares for six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. These palaces serve as settings for stories that shape us all. We aim to bring these stories to people in meaningful ways, ensuring everyone can find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
This exhibition explores the codes and conventions of royal clothing and the powerful impact fashion can have when boundaries are pushed and dress codes evolve. Highlights include pieces worn by a young Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, Princess of Wales, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Princess Margaret, and Queen Victoria. We are seeking seasonal staff to support the operation of this exciting exhibition.
As a Palace Host (Sales) at Kensington Palace, every moment is an opportunity to make someone's day. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality customer service and creating memorable experiences for visitors, which helps generate revenue to support our impact and care for the palaces.
Your main responsibilities include supporting the delivery of sales targets and KPIs across Retail, Admissions, Membership, and Ticket scanning. You will also ensure the Retail and Admissions areas are well-presented and that all ticketing and cash handling procedures are followed.
You may also undertake cross-role duties to support Palace Guides and other Hosts in the operation of the palace and visitor experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service and teamwork, with a strong drive to achieve sales targets. A positive, flexible approach and the ability to adapt to visitor needs are essential.

The full season at Kensington Palace runs from 3rd March 2025 to 30th November 2025. Shorter contracts are also available (31st March 2025 – 31st August 2025), and we can be flexible to accommodate other commitments at the start or end of the season.
