Job description

We are a bold, award-winning business known for offering eclectic, innovative, and seasonal menus that delight our customers. Our environment is industry-leading, and we pride ourselves on maintaining friendly, welcoming, and high-standard kitchens. These standards are upheld by our great team of kitchen porters, who are the heartbeat of our kitchens and essential to our success.

We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our team.

Located on the historic Bristol harbourside, The Ostrich features a large pub garden and cozy interiors over two floors. The upstairs 'Top Deck' dining space and bar, recently refurbished, offers stunning views over the harbour and is available for private hire. Please note, table bookings are only available in the Top Deck bar; outside seating is first come, first served.

Our menu celebrates traditional British pub classics, seasonal local produce, small plates, sharing boards, famous pies, and bar snacks. On Sundays, enjoy Bristol’s best roasts and our signature sharing pies.

Behind the bar, we serve award-winning Butcombe beers and an extensive rum selection, paying homage to The Ostrich’s history as a dockside inn frequented by sailors, merchants, and dock-workers.

What’s in it for you?

  • The opportunity to work for an award-winning business recognized for its food and management excellence at The UK Publican Awards.
  • Access to Liberation Life, a platform offering cashback with major retailers, discounts on holidays, groceries, gifts, and more.
  • A competitive hourly rate plus an equal share of tips, paid for the hours worked.
  • Industry-leading training and development through bespoke plans as part of our ‘Pillars of Progression’ programme.
  • Partnership with HIT training for apprenticeship schemes.
  • Support and coaching from our talented kitchen teams.
  • Tools and investments to help you excel in your role.
  • A vibrant team environment with parties, events, training, excellent suppliers, and rewards including 50% off food on shift.
  • A caring employer committed to mental health awareness through the Burnt Chef Project and providing 24/7 Employee Assistance support.
