Job summary

A local council in Glasgow is hiring four seasonal Countryside Rangers to work with communities and volunteers to create and manage natural habitats. The role includes project development and site assessments, requiring good communication skills and outdoor safety knowledge. Successful candidates will be part of a team dedicated to enhancing urban biodiversity from October 2025 to March 2026 and must support volunteer activities while possibly working weekends.

Can you help communities to restore nature in Scotland's biggest city? We have vacancies for four seasonal Countryside Rangers to join our Greenspace and Biodiversity Group to work with local communities and volunteers to identify, plan and deliver projects that create, restore and manage natural habitats in our parks and open spaces. Working at sites across the city the role will involve site survey and assessment, project development, and project delivery with local volunteers and community groups.

Postholders must be able to work well with people from a range of backgrounds, and have a good understanding of how to work safely with volunteers in outdoor settings. The posts are seasonal, and are for 24 weeks between from October 2025 to March 2026. The working pattern will include weekend working.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
