Role purpose:

As part of the LRQA Seafood Team, Seafood Auditors assess LRQA clients’ conformity with relevant seafood chain standards. They may also conduct technical/certification reviews and witness audits as appropriate.

Auditors must ensure high-quality audits, maintain compliance with standards, and deliver effective and efficient audit programs to provide excellent service to clients.

Develop and maintain detailed technical knowledge of relevant schemes and industry practices, including attending client and scheme owner meetings when required.

After scheme-specific training and qualification, auditors are responsible for conducting professional audits that meet standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Become qualified to audit relevant certification schemes and maintain that status through ongoing training and calibration.
  2. Plan and conduct audits across a range of seafood clients.
  3. Generate accurate, clear, and objective audit reports complying with applicable requirements, and perform technical and certification reviews as needed.
  4. Ensure timely submission of audit reports, evaluation of corrective actions, and completion of reviews.
  5. Develop a thorough understanding of relevant schemes to support colleagues technically.
  6. Build relationships with colleagues and organize travel, site audits, and related logistics.
  7. Engage with scheme owners to stay updated on regulations and standards.
  8. Participate in internal and external audits, review findings, and ensure timely resolution.
  9. Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and implement improvements.
  10. Perform other duties as needed to support the seafood business unit and organization.
Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

Required:

  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant aquaculture or supply chain experience.
  • Well-organized with effective planning and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • More than 2 years’ relevant experience (up to 5 years preferred).
  • Experience in seafood processing plants, animal/aquaculture feed mills, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the seafood industry in Northwest Europe.
  • Experience with accredited certification schemes and auditing (e.g., Global GAP, MSC, BRC).
  • Minimum 25 days’ onsite auditing experience.
  • Relevant auditor qualifications (e.g., ISO 19011 Lead Auditor).
  • Training in HACCP principles and fish welfare.
  • Additional language skills.
  • Comfort around water and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
