JOB DESCRIPTION We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our Sea Logistics team as Import Operational Care Specialist at our Birmingham Branch. This role is vital to ensuring the smooth coordination of customer shipments and the accurate, timely update of key milestones within our operational system. Your Role

As an Import Operational Care Specialist, you will be an integral part of our Operational Care Centre (OCC). You will handle the timely processing of tasks using Business Process Automation (BPA) to ensure that sales quotations are correctly linked to shipments, and that costing and gross profit (GP) are accurately managed. Your primary responsibilities will include coordinating customer shipments, ensuring that key milestones are accurately and promptly updated in the operational system, and maintaining seamless communication with Customer Care Specialists within the Customer Care Locations (CCL). You will play a critical role in managing the flow of information between various teams and external stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with our high standards.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Ensure carrier contract retrieval into cost entry and add manual accruals as required.
  2. Ensure accurate gross profit for all contracted freight and UK charges.
  3. Maximise gross profit on every shipment by ensuring correct profit share and sales quotation is linked on every shipment file.
  4. Investigate and resolve issues related to schedule changes, routing discrepancies, and missing shipment statuses and notify the respective parties in case of issues.
  5. Monitor and address discrepancies with carrier invoices, escalating, as necessary.
  6. Raise freight and additional charge invoices to our customers.
  7. Serve as a key contact for the services within your scope.
  8. Engage in regular communication with Customer Care Locations, other OCC departments, Kuehne + Nagel offices overseas, and suppliers, building strong relationships.

Your Skills and Experiences

  1. Experience in either freight forwarding or transport planning preferably with the focus on sea freight.
  2. Experience in Import Operations is advantageous.
  3. Experience in processing data and task based work is advantageous.
  4. Ability to understand and execute new processes.
  5. Excellent knowledge of MS office features, especially excel.
  6. Understand & respect the company confidentiality and compliance regulations (Code of Conduct).
  7. Strong affinity with required customer quality standards.
  8. Understanding of Incoterms, shipment types and methods.
  9. Very good time management skills with the ability to set priorities, fulfil critical tasks in time and keep to deadlines.
