Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to join cross-functional squads focused on delivering high-quality software. You will define and refine testing strategies, build scalable automation, and support engineers in testing their code across products and services.

You will collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to ensure quality and reliability, while prioritising customer outcomes and efficient delivery in a fast-paced agile environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with back-end test automation frameworks and integrating into CI/CD pipelines.
• Awareness of cloud infrastructure and configuration.
• Experience with ReactNative and front-end test automation.
• Knowledge of performance testing techniques and security testing tooling.
• Strong understanding of Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD).
• Experience testing distributed microservices in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and continually improve the testing strategy for new and existing products.
• Drive the direction of the testing chapter to maintain high standards of technology and process.
• Develop clean, reusable code that is easy to maintain and extend.
• Build scalable automated testing systems to ship value to customers quickly.
• Support other engineers to test their software and act as a subject matter expert.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to shape the future of quality engineering at NatWest Boxed and keep customers' long-term interests in mind.

You’ll be working collaboratively across our missions to define and continually improve our testing strategy for new and existing products. You'll also drive the direction of our testing chapter to ensure it maintains the highest standards of technology and process.

You’ll also be:

• Developing clean, elegant and reusable code that is easy to maintain and extend
• Building scalable automated testing systems that enable us to ship value to customers at pace
• Supporting other engineers to test their software and act as a subject matter expert
• Working with stakeholders across the business to shape the future of quality engineering at NatWest Boxed and put long-term interests of our customers at the heart of key decisions

The skills you’ll need

You’ll need hands‑on experience with common back end test automation frameworks, and integrating these into the continuous deployment pipeline. We are also looking for people with an awareness of cloud infrastructure and configuration.

You’ll also need:

• Hands on experience with ReactNative, front-end test automation frameworks and integrating these into the continuous deployment pipeline
• Knowledge of software performance and automates security testing techniques and tooling
• A strong understanding of Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD)
• Experience delivering and testing distributed microservices as part of an agile team
