An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist within the Medicine and Emergency Care Division at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. You will be responsible for admitting and discharging patients, managing appointments, and providing clerical support to ensure a smooth workflow in the Same Day Emergency Care department.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine and Emergency Care Division to work as a Receptionist, covering our Same Day Emergency Care department. The main role requirements are admitting and discharging patients off the system, filing, making appointments, diaries etc, answering the telephone and any other clerical duties expected on the unit. You may be attached to a ward but could be asked to attend any ward/ dept within the Medicine and Emergency Care Division to ensure the services are covered.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a professional front of house and telephone service. Answer enquiries, receive and relay messages, both in person and on the telephone, from patients, visitors and hospital staff also using knowledge of hospital procedures to maintain a professional front of house service. To meet the needs of the service and take into account special requirements.

On a daily basis you will process all admissions and discharges on the system, ensure the book system is kept up to date, maintain patients case notes and file into the case notes, provide patients appointments when requested and liaise with the w ard staff and other multi-disciplinary teams.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
