Job description

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK's nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK's continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At the SDA, we strive to Support, Deliver and Aspire and put our values at the heart of our recruitment process. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable to be themselves and be supported to do their best work. As part of a diverse and inclusive workforce, our team will find a community to belong to. We believe that, by celebrating different backgrounds and different perspectives, together we'll achieve the extraordinary.

We are looking for a committed and detail-oriented Configuration Control Assistant to join our team, which plays a vital role in the through-life support of the Trident Strategic Weapon System (SWS). This position directly supports the UK's Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD) programme, ensuring the effective integration and configuration of Trident II (D5) SWS-related data for the Vanguard In-Service programme.

As a Configuration Control Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the Configuration Control Manager within the Chief Engineer area of the Trident Systems Project Team (TSPT). Your responsibilities will include managing the configuration control of equipment design changes, encompassing the receipt, control, issue, and distribution of both US and UK SWS and Strategic Weapons Support System (SWSS) design changes. You will also maintain and oversee the workflow management system and design change database, ensuring that all design change documentation is properly stored in both hard and soft copy formats.

In this role, you will support the Configuration Control Manager in the migration of current applications and oversee equipment (SWS) and equipment interface (SWSS) design change control on Vanguard-class platforms. You will also coordinate the UK's contribution to interface co-ordination drawing review and maintenance, as well as manage SWS/SWSS waivers, concessions, and deviations. Additionally, you will assist in managing the SWS/SWSS design baseline and provide support in the development and/or acceptance of a sub-system.

Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Travel Requirement
