The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a permanent SDA Business Support Assistant based in Johnstone. This full-time role involves providing administrative support to management teams, including processing financial information and meeting coordination. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated individuals with strong communication and organizational skills, ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of SDA Business Support Assistant, based in ERRI HQ Johnstone LSO Office with the requirement to cover the other two LSO Offices - EWDAB HQ Clydebank LSO Office and COG HQ Cowcaddens LSO Office as and when required on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week.
This is a full time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a key Business Support Role providing high quality and sustainable Business Support to Local Service Delivery Area Management Teams.
Some of the key tasks of the role include providing full administrative support for various meetings including note taking when required, handling telephone calls - internal and external, processing absences for sickness, special leave and annual leave and dealing with any enquiries relating to this, processing financial information which includes raising purchase orders and stock requests, receipting goods and paying invoices, booking travel and accommodation to meet service needs and requirements, handling both incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining and preparing information for a variety of bespoke systems including On Call availability system, HR system and Finance System.
Previous experience of working within a busy office environment and a working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, in particular Word and Excel are essential. Experience of note taking is also required.
You should be able to work on your own initiative, prioritise your own workload and be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail. You will need to be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills coupled with a flexible approach. A strong awareness of confidentiality is also essential. A PVG will be required for this post

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
