Ute Decker Studio in London seeks a skilled goldsmith to support studio practice and exhibitions. The role involves hands-on sculptural jewellery work, sourcing materials, bench finishing, and assisting during Goldsmiths’ Fair and Cockpit Open Studios.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of full-time fabrication bench experience, proficiency with gold/silver/mixed media, and meticulous craftsmanship. Flexible freelance schedule and collaborative studio environment.

Competenze

• Solid professional, full-time fabrication bench experience (min. 3 years).
• Proficiency with gold, silver, and mixed media.
• Exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and with the artist.
• Experience in calculating dimensions, using materials efficiently, and identifying potential issues during production.
• Organised, proactive, and reliable with excellent communication and time management skills.

Mansioni

• Preparing metals and materials for Ute to sculpt.
• Finishing jewellery to the highest standard.
• Precise bench work including filing, soldering, texturing, and hand-polishing edges.
• Handling large-scale projects like 5-meter-long wire strips.
• Identifying issues in making/working processes before they arise.
• Meticulously refining the finish of final pieces.
• Maintaining records of works, materials, and Fairtrade details (Artlogic training provided).
• Supporting studio operations, inventory, client viewings, and exhibition preparations.
• Interacting with clients professionally during exhibitions and studio events.
