Key Purpose:
The Scrum Master will guide and coach the team in the effective use of Scrum, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and self-organization. They will ensure adherence to Scrum principles, maximize value delivery, and cultivate a positive and productive work environment.

Accountabilities:

  1. Facilitate Scrum Events: Lead Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective meetings, ensuring they are productive, time-boxed, and achieve their intended outcomes.
  2. Empower the Development Team: Coach the team in self-organization, cross-functionality, and continuous improvement, promoting ownership and effective collaboration.
  3. Support the Product Owner: Assist in maintaining a healthy Product Backlog, ensuring clear communication of product vision, goals, and priorities.
  4. Remove Impediments: Proactively identify and resolve obstacles that hinder the team’s progress, escalating issues when necessary.
  5. Champion Scrum Adoption: Promote Scrum values and principles within the team and organization, advocating for its benefits and addressing misconceptions.

Experience, Knowledge, and Capability Requirements:

  1. Proven Experience:
  • 2+ years as a Scrum Master for a software development team delivering successful software solutions.
  • Proficiency in applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Kanban, XP, or Lean; experience with agile scaling frameworks (e.g., LeSS, SAFe) is advantageous.
  • Certified Scrum Master / Professional Scrum Master qualifications preferred; experience in the utility or water sector desirable.
  • Deep understanding of Scrum principles, values, and practices.
  • Ability to guide and coach teams in self-organization and effective Scrum event facilitation.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving impediments, shielding the team from distractions.
  • Coaching and Mentoring:
    • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to foster continuous improvement and team performance.
    • Capacity to address individual and team skill gaps, guiding towards high performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to build trust and rapport with team members and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in facilitating collaborative workshops and discussions.
  • Agile Mindset:
    • Embraces agile values and promotes a culture of experimentation and learning.
    • Adaptable to change, committed to continuous improvement in agile practices.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Familiarity with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
    • Understanding of software development practices and technologies; knowledge of DevOps practices beneficial.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to analyze situations and implement effective solutions.
    • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in agile methodologies.
    • Active participation in the agile community and staying updated with industry trends.

    • Employee Experience (EEXP) : Leads employee engagement strategies, ensures a productive working environment, and promotes health and wellbeing.
    • Measurement (MEAS) : Establishes measurement objectives, enhances measurement capability, and advises on effective use of measures.
    • Learning Delivery (ETDL) : Prepares and delivers learning activities, enhances learner experience, and tailors learning delivery approaches.
    • Methods and Tools (METL) : Provides guidance on methods and tools adoption, tailors processes, and improves tool usage.
