Overview

Job summary

An exciting opportunity at the Royal London Hospital for a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated Neuro and Spine Theatre Practitioners to join our team as a Band 7 Senior Team Leader. The successful candidate will lead a team of theatre scrub professionals in Adult Theatres, with substantial experience as a Band 6 Team Leader in recent Neuro and Spine elective and Trauma scrub within an acute hospital setting.

Our hospital operates 21 state-of-the-art theatres covering elective and emergency specialties and complex procedures across a wide range of disciplines. We also offer paediatric expertise to the major trauma service for Southeast England.

The role involves leading and supporting a team to deliver high standards of patient care through emergency and trauma pathways, with a focus on clinical supervision and staff development to support the trauma service in a safe environment at The Royal London Hospital.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for effective and efficient day-to-day management of the practice setting, including:

  • Standards of care
  • Budget management and control
  • Clinical governance
  • Staff development and training
  • Maintaining professional standards of practice and care
  • Providing professional clinical leadership and direction to the multi-disciplinary team

The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. They will manage and develop team performance, and manage a devolved budget to ensure efficient use of physical and human resources.

They will take ultimate responsibility for the standard of the environment within their area, ensuring patient needs are met and staff maintain cleanliness to national standards. They will be accessible and visible to staff, patients and visitors, ensuring patients are treated with respect and dignity, and act as a professional role model.
