Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

Based in London, this is an exciting opportunity for a creative producer to work with our print and digital titles in the development and production of scripted projects.

Across The Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun, our journalists uncover and report on thousands of stories every year. Some of this news gathering is taken into longer form book publishing and some into episodic podcasts. We now want to develop the pathway to take these stories to screen in partnership with Fox Entertainment Group.

The Scripted Development Producer will be tasked with identifying, developing, and presenting the most exciting materials from our archives and contemporary journalism to our colleagues in Fox Entertainment Group (FEG).

Day to day you will:

  1. Pitch ideas to FEG Commissioning teams based upon IP developed from News UK’s journalism.
  2. Move ideas from pitch through to commissioning and into production.
  3. Mine the archive to identify the most relevant material for development.
  4. Work with the editorial teams across The Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun to find contemporary stories suitable for scripted development.
  5. Develop a deep understanding of FEG’s creative priorities by collaborating with creative and commissioning teams in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
  6. Craft stories into pitches for FEG and News UK executive teams.
  7. Collaborate with the FEG team to develop ideas by providing feedback on creative treatments, potential writing talent, and other core creative processes.
  8. Assist in the production of those ideas.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Creative vision — ability to identify potential in stories and bring them to life in pitches.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in scripted content development within a TV broadcast, cable network, studio, or established independent production company.
  • Knowledge of global industry trends and a strong understanding of storytelling and casting relevant to successful programming.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex environment with entrepreneurial drive and passion for content and audiences.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to foster this among team members; an imaginative, innovative mindset combining creative sensibility with business acumen.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and compellingly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within collaborative teams and with diverse stakeholders.

Key Behaviours

  • Creativity — generate and develop unique, compelling ideas for TV shows and films.
  • Collaboration — work effectively with directors, writers, and other executives.
  • Adaptability — adjust readily to market and trend changes.
  • Passion — driven by a love for TV & film storytelling.
  • Persistence — committed to seeing projects through from concept to production.
