NHS Scotland is seeking an experienced SCPHN School Nurse to join the Argyll and Bute HSCP School Health service. The role involves leadership, team development, and managing child health services across various locations. Position: SCPHN School Nurse
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Argyll and Bute HSCP School Health service to recruit an experienced SCPHN School Nurse committed to leading service change and embedding best practice. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate clinical effectiveness, sound decision-making, and change management skills.
Requirements include knowledge and experience of systems such as GIRFEC, Child Protection, and Care Experienced processes. Effective communication skills with children, parents, families, colleagues, and multi-agency partners including Education, Social Work, and the third sector are essential.
You will be expected to travel between various work locations within the Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and Islay localities to meet operational needs. Under the supervision of the Child Health Manager, your responsibilities will include leadership, team development, caseload management, and staff line management.
You will also support the Child Health Manager in ensuring quality assurance, standards compliance, professional regulation, responding to complaints, staff governance, clinical supervision, legislative compliance, and policy implementation. Demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with adaptability and flexibility, is crucial.
Leadership skills are required to provide professional guidance to colleagues across School Health teams. Evidence of maintaining up-to-date knowledge of SCPHN school nursing practice and awareness of developments in School Nursing is necessary to adapt clinical practices accordingly. This is a pivotal time as we aim to maximize the contribution of School Nursing and implement the specialist pathway to improve outcomes for children and young people (5-19 years).
