Are you a highly motivated Nurse or Midwife eager to develop your skills working with children and families in the community? Consider a career as a School Nurse. Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust offers training as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) in School Nursing, in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

Please ensure you meet the criteria before applying:

  • Qualified Registered Nurse or Midwife with active NMC Registration and significant post-registration experience. This is not suitable for newly qualified nurses/midwives.
  • Both qualifications must be listed on your application.
  • At least 120 academic credits at Level 5 (BSc) or Level 6 (PGDip).
  • This is a 13-month, full-time training course starting September 2025 and ending October 2026, comprising 50% academic and 50% practice placements, run jointly by WWL and MMU.

Note: This vacancy is subject to funding.

Main duties of the job
  • Full-time position: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, 0900-1700. Part-time work is not available for this role.
  • Salary at the mid-point of Band 5. University tuition fees are paid. Employment is on a fixed-term contract for the course duration; no guarantee of permanent employment.
  • Must be able to travel independently across the Trust, holding a valid driving license and access to a suitable car, which must be referenced in your supporting statement.
  • Interviews are scheduled for 20th May 2025. Attendance in person is mandatory; remote interviews are not available.
