Brief Description

The Scientist role is focused on providing analytical support to the global MS&T function, emphasizing various techniques such as LCs, GCs, ICP-MS, and LC-MS. Responsibilities include providing analytical support to an existing Jazz commercial product, conducting analytical investigations (including unknown impurities analysis), and improving test methods. The role involves assessing, developing, transferring, validating, and troubleshooting analytical methods. Additionally, the role will assist in enhancing product and process robustness, analyze cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid components in plant materials, and may provide analytical support to Jazz R&D discovery and Jazz Pharmaceutical development teams as needed.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • To provide analytical support to the MS&T analytical team using LC, GC, ICP, MS and NIR systems and other techniques as deemed required.
  • To provide support for analytical investigations for all existing Jazz commercial products using various analytical techniques within the laboratory.
  • Improving existing analytical methods and developing new methods to support test method life cycle management.
  • Presenting work to the team and writing scientific reports as required.
  • To review and check completed ARF’s and any other research data.
  • Where applicable, ensure analytical equipment is fully calibrated and serviced in accordance with company protocols and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining cGXP and H&S knowledge applicable to the job.
  • To keep abreast of industry guidelines and any relevant updates.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Extensive practical knowledge of multiple analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, ICP-MS and pharmacopeial methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Empower and preferable with knowledge on any other related chromatography software systems such as MassLynx, Lab Solutions, Waters Connect and Unifi.
  • Excellent attention to detail - the job role requires checking of analytical data, authoring, and reviewing of SOP’s, Test Methods, Protocols and Reports.
  • Communication skills including written and presentational: the role requires designing and executing various developmental protocols and reports; it also requires ad hoc and project work to be presented at cross-functional meetings.
  • Can work effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to use own initiative when working on individual projects e.g. background research.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other colleagues and departments.
  • Sets an example to colleagues by ensuring a good work ethic and continually sharing knowledge and experience.
Required/Preferred Education And Licenses

  • Scientific based degree with a minimum of two years laboratory experience.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new analytical techniques.
