Nova Biomedical is seeking a Scientist II to apply scientific principles to product development and validation activities at our Wimborne site. The role involves planning, executing, and analyzing lab experiments focused on cell- and assay-based technologies, with experience in CHO, HEK, and iPSC cells.

The candidate will collaborate with Production, Quality, Technical Support, and Marketing teams, communicate with stakeholders, and mentor junior scientists in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Job Summary:

Scientist II applies scientific principles to solve complex technical problems and support product development, validation activities, and technical service initiatives. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing laboratory experiments related to development of cell and assay-based technologies. The candidate should possess experience in cell culture, specifically with CHO, HEK, and iPSC cells, as well as experience in assay development (bead based immunoassays, ELISA)

Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, and conduct experiments to develop new applications or improve existing ones.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to solve problems, advance projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Support the testing of instruments during the different phases of their development and generating validation data and reports.
  • Employ careful aseptic technique and follow all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) closely, keeping full and accurate details of procedures.
  • Lead the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate findings to a wider audience or approve those written by others in the group.
  • Attend R&D project team meetings to provide support on new product development from an application perspective.
  • Support partner teams including Production, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical Support, Marketing
  • Capable of clearly communicating with stakeholders as well as with external audiences
  • Support junior members of the scientific team by providing guidance on projects and experimental studies.
Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related field.
  • Typically requires 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Experienced in the following techniques:
    • Cell Culture (CHO, HEK)
    • Cell Culture (Stem Cells)
    • Assay development
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, laboratory statistical programs
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced product development team
  • Strong communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Attention to quality and detail
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to wear PPE
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and biological agents (cell lines)
  • Must be able to work in a laboratory biosafety hood, with instrumentation and understand and use all safety elements.
  • Ability to use precise motor skills for repetitive tasks
