Scientist (High Throughput Screening, Antibody Discovery), CANCER RESEARCH UK

Join us to apply for the Scientist (High Throughput Screening, Antibody Discovery) role at Cancer Research UK.

Location: Cori Building, Granta Park, Cambridge

Salary: £33,000 - £38,150 per annum (dependent on experience) plus benefits, including up to 12% pension contribution and income protection.

Department: Research and Innovation

Reports to: Principal Scientist, Antibody Discovery

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours/week (flexible working considered)

At Cancer Research UK, we aim to beat cancer. We seek an experienced scientist to advance our capabilities in therapeutic antibody discovery within our Drug Discovery team. This role involves developing and executing high throughput screening assays, primarily for antibodies, using biochemical and cell-based technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and executing high throughput screening assays.
  2. Contributing to project progression within a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Characterising functional properties of therapeutic antibodies.
  4. Utilising various assay formats and automation technologies.
  5. Maintaining technical expertise and recording data for project meetings.

Essential skills and qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of biochemical and cell-based high throughput screening technologies.
  • Experience with developing cell-based assays for drug discovery, especially antibodies.
  • Proficiency with detection technologies (flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, HTRF).
  • Experience with laboratory automation is desirable.
  • Proactive attitude, excellent communication, and collaborative skills.
