Job Summary

Our manufacturing site in Keele is offering an opportunity for a Scientist/Senior Scientist. Reporting to the MSAT Lead for Downstream, the Scientist/Senior Scientist will be responsible for planning and executing downstream activities to support in-house and contracted programs within the MSAT team, including development or technical transfer of downstream processes. They will also support wider processing activities within the MSAT team (upstream and analytics).

What You'll Be Doing:
  1. Contribute to project planning and technology transfers by providing estimates for resources and schedules.
  2. Execute and complete assigned programs covering contracted, internal projects, and routine operations in a timely manner.
  3. Interpret data and communicate results through verbal and written reports.
  4. Assess the impact of data and its relevance to process development or production.
  5. Ensure all operations and procedures are performed after appropriate training, with training maintained in job manuals.
  6. Assist in developing new techniques or processes within the MSAT team and other areas as required.
  7. Generate study plans, technical reports, SOPs, and Batch Records as assigned.
  8. Work within project teams and report work in customer and internal meetings.
  9. Maintain laboratory notebooks, MSAT, and production documentation to high standards.
  10. Participate in multidisciplinary teams across all MSAT areas.
  11. Provide training to staff where competency has been attained.
  12. Lead project execution, process runs, and unit operations within their skill area using a multifunctional team.
  13. Participate and lead investigation teams as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or an equivalent scientific qualification.
  • Practical laboratory or process experience in an academic or industrial setting, including use of AKTA systems and Tangential Flow Filtration.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and contingency skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
