Job description

Job Title: Scientist 1 - Core Screening Department

Due to the growth of our state-of-the-art Cell-Based Screening and Functional Genomic Screening Platforms, we have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist 1 to join our Core Screening Department on a fixed-term contract of 12 months. As a Scientist 1 in the Preclinical department, you will be responsible for executing cell and molecular biology workflows, automation, and generating data for high-throughput compound screens and CRISPR-Cas9 functional genomic screens for fee-paying commercial clients. Your activities will align with and support Revvity’s goals and values.

This is a lab-based role involving some repetitive tasks. Candidates should be organized, self-motivated, able to work under tight timelines, and comfortable working under pressure with shifting priorities.

Note: This position requires flexible working hours to cover 7-day operations on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize various cell and molecular biology techniques, laboratory automation, and lab information management systems (LIMS) to contribute to arrayed compound screening and pooled functional genomics screening projects, under supervision.
  2. Independently perform detailed tasks following SOPs, documenting deviations as necessary.
  3. Process, record, and report all data accurately and systematically.
  4. Contribute to continuous improvement of screening processes and workflows to enhance effectiveness and reduce costs.
  5. Communicate data and findings clearly to colleagues.
  6. Use resources efficiently, maintaining high standards and accountability.
About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a Biological Discipline covering mammalian cell biology.
  • At least one year of full-time laboratory experience (industry experience preferred).
  • Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize work to meet project deadlines and communicate deviations appropriately.
  • Excellent aseptic techniques and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including passaging, revivals, and banking.
  • A strong interest in laboratory automation and LIMS for high-quality output.
  • Self-awareness, diligence, attention to detail, and good record-keeping skills.

You may also have:

  • Practical experience with liquid handling robotic equipment and LIMS (training provided).
  • Knowledge of gene editing and gene modulation technologies.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction and PCR.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening and analysis of compound dose-response experiments.
  • An understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience working in an Industrial or CRO setting.
