We are currently looking to hire experienced Scientists within our team based in Warrington. The successful candidate will conduct rapid onsite testing for multiple Point of Care clinical and/or molecular tests and be responsible for processing blood and other samples from Randox Health or third-party clinics.

Location: Unit 2 Bishops Court, Warrington, WA2 8QY.

Contract Offered: Full-time, permanent.

Working Hours / Shifts: 4 on, 4 off: 7pm to 7am and 7am to 7pm alternating shifts. Please note that public transport is not accessible during shift finish times due to working hours and location.

What does this role involve?

This role is responsible for routine clinical testing in our laboratory. Main duties include:

  1. Routine use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  2. Performing various analytical procedures, including manual screening and automated methods for clinical diagnostic tests.
  3. Preparing and handling samples and diagnostic reagents.
  4. Operating automated analytical systems such as Rx Daytona Plus, Rx Imola, and Siemens Immulite XPi.
  5. Maintaining accurate analytical records.
  6. Adhering strictly to chain of custody procedures.
  7. Routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments.
  8. Preparing specimens for transportation to ensure stability during shipment.
  9. Monitoring temperature for laboratory and equipment.
  10. Troubleshooting technical issues related to clinical diagnostic testing.
  11. Completing daily Quality Control checks and participating in Quality Audits.

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year laboratory-based experience as Scientist or Lab Analyst.
  • Degree qualification in Biochemistry or a life science.
  • Strong attention to detail in laboratory work.
  • Ability to work day and night shifts (as specified above).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Desirable skills:

  • Practical experience with automated analyzers.
  • Experience in a private healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of quality systems.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety (CoSHH).
