Scientist | Seed-Funded AgriTech Startup | £7M+ Raised 💰

About the Company

We’re excited to be partnering with a Seed-funded AgriTech startup that’s raised over £7 million to transform global agriculture through cutting‑edge biological innovation and data‑driven science.

Their mission is to harness the power of biology to make farming more resilient, sustainable, and productive — developing breakthrough microbial, genetic, and biochemical technologies that enhance crop performance and soil health.

This is a unique opportunity to join an ambitious startup at an early stage, where your ideas and experiments will directly shape both the science and the future impact of the company.

Role

As a Scientist within the R&D team, you’ll take a hands‑on role in developing and optimising experimental systems that drive discovery and innovation.

You’ll collaborate closely with biologists, agronomists, and data scientists to design and execute experiments that uncover the biological mechanisms behind sustainable crop improvement.

Your work will be pivotal in building the foundation of the company’s scientific platform and scaling its discovery pipeline from concept to field application.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and analyse laboratory experiments focused on plant biology, microbiology, or molecular systems.
  • Develop, optimise, and validate new assays, workflows, and methodologies to support R&D programs.
  • Collect, interpret, and communicate experimental data to the founding and cross‑functional team.
  • Collaborate with computational and field teams to translate lab findings into real‑world agricultural impact.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, techniques, and tools that could accelerate discovery or improve scalability.
  • Contribute to building lab culture, best practices, and infrastructure in a growing startup setting.
About You
Education
  • PhD (or MSc with equivalent experience) in Plant Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Experience
  • Proven hands‑on experience in molecular biology, microbial cultivation, or plant‑microbe interactions.
  • Strong track record in experimental design, assay development, and data interpretation.
  • Experience with AgriTech, BioTech, or early‑stage startup environments is highly desirable.
Skills & Attributes
  • Creative and curious scientist with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
  • Excellent communicator who thrives in cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, resourceful startup environment.
  • Passionate about leveraging biology for sustainable impact in agriculture and food systems.
