An opportunity has arisen for a Scientist to join our Staffordshire-based client in the Underwater Measurement Systems Department within the Research team. Reporting to the Research Team Leader, the successful candidate will play a vital role within a dedicated team of Scientists. The role involves undertaking studies and developing software and system designs related to vessel systems and underwater measurement ranges, primarily dealing with electromagnetic fields. The candidate will work closely with other team members to develop technical solutions that meet project objectives.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will engage in scientific, modelling, and programming activities from bid to delivery in areas including:
Personal attributes
Minimum of a degree in a scientific or mathematical discipline; a physics or mathematics degree is preferred.
A postgraduate degree or experience in a physics or mathematical environment is desirable.
Proficiency in computer literacy and programming; experience in C++ is beneficial.
Experience in two or more of the following areas is advantageous: electromagnetic modelling, Vector Fields FEA, COMSOL, MATLAB/Simulink.
Strong written English and report writing skills.
Presentation and training skills, with confidence in customer-facing roles.
Some travel may be required, including site work such as research or commissioning trials in the UK and internationally.
Note: The successful candidate must be able to obtain the necessary security vetting clearance for the role.
