Scientific Director – Healthcare Communications

Hybrid London - remote working can be discussed with regular travel into London

I am currently partnered with an independent agency, who create innovative communication strategies that effectively and engagingly present scientific concepts. By fostering global partnerships, they concentrate on the groundbreaking therapies that are shaping the future of healthcare and addressing intricate diseases. They are looking to hire an established Scientific Director, with a focus on medical affairs or promotional.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of assigned accounts and leveraging this knowledge to enhance communication strategies for our clients' brands
  2. Leading scientific conversations with medical professionals and external specialists, offering proactive suggestions that are appreciated by the client
  3. Creating content for a diverse array of projects while taking on broader responsibilities for assigned accounts by supervising, briefing, and reviewing the work of fellow writers
  4. Playing a key role in shaping the scientific strategy and ensuring that messaging and content align with the overall brand vision
  5. Working closely with internal teams, including account managers, creative staff, editors, and medical strategists, to guarantee smooth project execution
  6. Sharing insights and expertise, along with providing specialized advice and support on brands and therapeutic areas to internal team members
  7. Keeping abreast of industry developments, guidelines, and best practices to enhance the quality of our medical writing
  8. Driving business growth by actively seeking out opportunities, participating in pitches, and contributing to written proposals
  9. Managing a team of writers
Minimum Requirements
  1. An essential requirement is an undergraduate degree in a relevant scientific field, while a postgraduate qualification or PhD is considered desirable
  2. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in a medical communications agency
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
  4. Experience managing a team
  5. Happy to travel for client meetings and events
