The Scientific Communication Lead (SCL) Autoantibody will be responsible for providing strategic, scientific, and technical leadership in planning and driving the scientific direction for the development and dissemination of scientific communications (i.e., manuscripts, abstracts, posters and presentations). This position will support assets in the Autoantibody therapeutic area within the immunology portfolio. They will partner closely with the GMA teams, Regional Medical TA/product leaders and Clinical Development Leaders to develop integrated global medical affairs perspectives, strategies and plans for publication.

Responsibilities include

  • Serve as a key scientific lead for publications for the assigned asset(s) within the Autoantibody TA, providing editorial, scientific and strategic expertise. This includes assisting in the development of the publication plan and leading the delivery of the publication plan
  • Responsible for oversight of content quality for publications and presentations within the AAB TA as well as reviewing all project related content for scientific accuracy and consistency
  • Provide direction, oversight, and feedback to writers, contracts, and vendors
  • Manage publication operations budget; responsible for vendor management, business plan development, forecasting and oversight
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal (Global Medical Affairs, R&D, Med Affairs TA leads, Biostatistics, GCSO) partners/authors and external (key opinion leaders, principal investigators) authors
  • Maintain knowledge of all clinical study data for assigned TA by participating in meetings where protocols, top line results, study reports and submission documents are planned and reviewed
  • Business Process Expert of Publications internally (SOP, best practice) and externally (publication guidelines, usage)
  • Expert in emerging trends and tools for publications, such as compliant use of artificial intelligence.
  • Responsible to ensure all global activities follow J&J compliance principles, (eg. Health Care Compliance, etc.)

Requirements

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical or scientific experience is required
  • In-depth knowledge of study/clinical methodology, study/clinical data reviews and analysis is required
  • Deep knowledge of industry medical writing standards (e.g., ICMJE, ISMPP, Good Publication Practices) is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and organize scientific data is required.
  • Project and budget management experience is required.
  • Global mindset and ability to partner cross culturally/regionally is required
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and understands global complexity is required
  • Knowledge across several therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience and/or immunology, is preferred
  • A minimum of 10% domestic and international travel is required
