Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Tranent, Scotland, invites applications for a Scientific Associate in our Safety Assessment Group. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, full time (36.25 hours per week) based at Elphinstone, Tranent EH33 2NE.

You will perform analyses using HPLC with MS, support method validation, and contribute to GLP/GCP studies, with a focus on data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a BSc in Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Experience with software packages would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of sample preparation and chromatographic techniques is desirable.
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Use HPLC with MS detection for quantification of compounds in liquid matrices
  • Use MSD for ligand binding assays or equivalent for quantification of compounds in liquid matrices
  • Carry out experiments in support of method validation and routine samples in GLP and/or GCP regulatory studies
  • Follow SOPs and protocols and document steps to ensure compliance
  • Perform technical laboratory activities in support of client studies or procedures
  • Analyze data for quality and completeness and determine if results meet expectations
  • Record data in compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Scientific Associate for our Safety Assessment Group located in Elphinstone, Tranent.EH33 2NE.

This position is a 12 month fixed term contract. The role will be full time 36.25 hours per week.

The following are responsibilities related to the Scientific Associate position:

  • Use HPLC with MS detection for quantification of compounds in liquid matrices
  • Use MSD for ligand binding assays or equivalent for quantification of compounds in liquid matrices
  • Carry out experiments in support of method validation and subsequent routine samples generated within GLP and/or GCP regulatory studies
  • Required to follow out written instructions (SOPs, protocols, analytical procedures) and document details of steps carried out to ensure compliance through recreation of events
  • Performing technical laboratory activities in support of client studies or procedures.
  • Performing analysis of data for quality and completeness and determines if results are as expected.
  • Recording data in compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Scientific Associate position:

  • A BSc in a Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Experience using complex software packages would be advantageous.
  • A working knowledge of sample preparation and chromatographic techniques.
  • Good problem solving skills and be able to work to tight deadlines and record data accurately.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
