Job summary

AMA Admin is seeking a passionate Science Technician to support secondary schools across Leeds. You will prepare equipment for practical lessons and assist teachers with demonstrations and experiments.

A strong scientific background and familiarity with health and safety procedures are desirable. The role offers flexible opportunities across multiple schools with competitive pay and potential for long-term positions.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or Laboratory Technician is desirable.
  • Degree or qualification in Science or related subject is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific equipment, experiments, and laboratory procedures.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up equipment and resources for practical Science lessons.
  • Support teachers with demonstrations and practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Ensure laboratories, equipment, and resources are safe, organised, and ready for use.
  • Prepare and organise chemicals, materials, and scientific equipment in line with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment and report any issues when required.
  • Support the smooth running of practical lessons and help teachers deliver engaging experiments.
  • Manage stock levels and order scientific equipment and consumables when needed.
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed when handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider Science department.
