Job summary

St. Bede's College Ltd in Manchester is seeking a versatile part-time professional to join our College in a dual role: Science Technician three days a week and Pupil Support two days a week, with duties shared between the Physics department and the Achievement Centre.

You will facilitate safe practical science learning and provide targeted academic and pastoral support to pupils with diverse learning needs. Full on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Science Technician (3 days per week): Prepare apparatus, chemicals, physics equipment and specimens for science lessons and exams; act as Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).
• Lab maintenance and safety: keep prep rooms and labs safe, clean and compliant with COSHH and CLEAPSS standards.
• Chemical and stock control: manage inventory, handle hazardous materials safely, and follow disposal protocols.
• Classroom support: assist teachers with demonstrations and equipment setup/breakdown.
• Pupil Support (2 days per week): Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support; assist SENDCo with admin duties; support pupils’ study skills and confidence; mentor pupils during the college day.
