Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a Manchester secondary school in recruiting an experienced Science Technician for an ASAP start. This full-time role supports Biology, Chemistry and Physics practicals, prepares materials, maintains equipment and stock, and ensures labs are ready and safe for lessons.

You will work closely with teaching staff, follow COSHH procedures and uphold high standards of organisation and safety in a busy science department.

Qualifications

• Experience as Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting.
• Organised, hands-on with attention to detail.
• GCSE or A-Level practical experience would be an advantage.

ASAP Start | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am–4:30pm Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–4:00pm Friday

A Manchester secondary school is looking to bring an experienced Science Technician into its department as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the practical side of science and wants to play a key part in supporting teachers and pupils. You’ll be responsible for making sure lessons have everything they need, while keeping the department organised and safe.

Your Day-to-Day

Prepare practical materials and equipment ahead of lessons.

Support Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical work.

Set up demonstrations and experiments.

Check, clean and maintain laboratory equipment.

Keep an accurate record of stock and arrange replacement supplies.

Make sure laboratories and preparation areas are ready for use.

Work closely with teaching staff to meet practical requirements.

Follow all school safety, COSHH and chemical handling procedures.

About You

You’ll ideally have previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting and have a good understanding of practical science.

We're looking for someone who is organised, hands-on and able to get on with their work without needing constant direction. Good attention to detail is essential, particularly when preparing practical activities and handling equipment.

GCSE or A-Level practical experience would be an advantage.
