Job summary

An outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary school in Harrow is seeking a Science Technician through Marchant Recruitment to support practical science lessons and maintain laboratory facilities. This is a permanent, full-time position starting in October 2026.

You will prepare equipment and materials, assist teachers across the three science disciplines, set up demonstrations, and ensure COSHH and safety procedures are followed. Long-term progression opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Science Technician or Laboratory Technician would be ideal.
• Experience working within a scientific, medical or technical environment may also be relevant.
• Hands-on, dependable and methodical; ability to manage your own workload.
• A good understanding of laboratory safety is important.
• Ability to work positively with teachers and students.

• Keeping stockrooms and laboratories organised

• Recording equipment issues and arranging repairs where necessary

Job description

Your day-to-day work will include:

Who would suit this role?

Previous experience as a Science Technician or Laboratory Technician would be ideal. Experience working within a scientific, medical or technical environment may also be relevant.

You’ll need to be hands-on, dependable and methodical, with the confidence to manage your own workload. A good understanding of laboratory safety is important, as is the ability to work positively with teachers and students.
