Salary: £28,046 - £32,010 (pro-rata for sessional)

Hours: 36 hours per week, 39 weeks sessional

James Gillespie's High School is located in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh. It is a fully co-educational comprehensive school since the 1970s and is home to Edinburgh's Ard-Sgoil (Gaelic Secondary).

We are seeking a Science Technician to support teaching staff in the Science Department at our main campus on Lauderdale Street and Darroch Campus on Gillespie Street. This is a fixed-term position until June 2026, covering maternity leave. Please see the attached job description and person specification for further details.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent three or more months outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will also be required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
