Science Technician

Salary: £28,046 - £32,010 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 14 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Flexibility: the set working pattern for this post will be agreed between the successful candidate and the school. Any proposal of working hours will be considered, provided they are during (or have overlap with) the school hours of 8:30-15:30 (12:15 on Fridays).

Currie Community High School is situated to the south west of the City of Edinburgh and serves the communities of Currie, Riccarton, Juniper Green and Baberton Mains. The school has served the local community for some 350 years. The school enjoys excellent links with the local community and as a designated community high school, a quality community programme is offered. The school’s SQA results are above both local and national averages and an extensive range of wider achievement opportunities are offered. The school is firmly committed to raising attainment and promoting positive achievement, leading to a high level of positive and sustained destinations of which Currie High has an outstanding record.

We are seeking a part time Science Technician to join our staff team, working alongside our full time Science Technician in a busy and thriving science department. The successful candidate will demonstrate positivity, initiative and flexibility, and will enjoy working proactively with colleagues to help provide the best possible learning experience for our young people.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
