A leading educational institution in Selby is looking for a Science Department Technician to coordinate practical resources and provide technical support in the curriculum. Candidates should have at least GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science, as well as A Levels in a Science subject. Strong ICT and communication skills are essential. This role involves ensuring health and safety compliance and assisting with administrative duties.
Duties: To work under the direction of the Head of Science and the Science Technician, to coordinate the use of practical resources and facilities. You will provide assistance and advice in the practical needs of the curriculum across the Science Department. To give technical advice and health and safety advice, to teachers and students. To take a lead in carrying out the stock control, ordering of provisions and liaising with suppliers and the Finance team.
Qualifications required: GCSE maths and English at grades 4 or above, GCSE Science at grade 4 or above. A Level in any Science subject. Desired skills: Demonstrable ICT skills and ability to use them as part of the learning process, or the ability to develop ICT skills in a reasonable time frame. Good written and verbal communication skills: able to communicate effectively and clearly with a range of staff, pupils and parents. Personal Qualities: Demonstrable interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully in a team; able to exercise discretion and judgement; self-motivation to complete required duties; confidentiality.
